  1. From 1486 to 1489 he studied painting with Michael Wolgemut

  2. He returned to Nuremberg ill with malaria, therefore he devoted himself primarily to the composition and printing of his three major theoretical books.

  3. Durer returned to Nuremberg and on July 7th, 1494 married Agnes Frey, the daughter of Hans Frey, Frey, who had been a coppersmith, had become prosperous as a mechanician and instrument maker.

  4. He became official court artist to Holy Roman Emperors Maximilian I and his successor Charles V.

  5. By the age of 13 he was already a skilled painter

Albrecht Durer was born May 21, 1471. He died April 6th, 1528. Durer was a German painter, printmaker, engraver, mathematician, and theorist from Nuremberg. He has been known as the greatest artist of the Northern Renaissance ever. His work that he did includes altarpieces and religious works, numerous portraits and self-portraits, and copper engravings. His well-known works are the knight, death and the devil, Saint Jerome in his study, and Melencolia I. Durer influenced many, espically in printmaking. His success in spreading his reputation across Europe through prints were an inspiration for major artists such as Raphel, Titan, and Parmigianino all were inspired by his work.
